Subs VS View count

Samithman

I've Got It
So I'm a gaming channel and I have a really good set of subs that I interact with which is what I really love about youtube. But my question is that I see alot of people with 200/300 subs but get like 15- 30 views a video if that and have there total views lower than mine!

I don't understand this????

A lot of this often has to do with consistency. Channels that don't have any consistency within their content will often attract subscribers that enjoy the video that made them subscribe but when the other videos uploaded on the channel aren't congruent, the subscriber will become inactive or simply only watch the type of video they subscribed for.

Consistency in scheduling videos is also a key factor here. Many people will take a break from YouTube for a while and when they try to come back, a lot of their subs have become inactive or they simply lose interest in the uploader but they stay subscribed anyways. A consistent upload schedule also gets your viewers used to looking for your content on a particular day or at a particular time so they never accidentally miss an upload.

A lot of these guys also look for shortcuts to gain subscribers (sub4sub, botting, etc) and while the number of subscribers builds, the active viewing audience doesn't.

Also depends on the content. A portion of my subscribers subbed on my channel because I told them to subscribe to receive updates from the Student Council, since I was the President. Now that I'm no longer president and that I make comedy videos on the same channel, some prefer not to watch my videos at all, which sucks, but totally understandable.

At least analytics says that out of all my subscribers, a very good portion watches my videos once they see it on their feeds :>

Sub boxes are ****** too. I get people telling me all the time "I haven't been getting your videos for weeks!", which explains why even the so called "obsessed" fans can "leave" within 2 days.

Welp, look at my subscriber count that 1k and i get less than 30 views on a lot of videos. Why? I have a lot of inactive subscribers since my channel is from 2009 and I started uploading gaming videos in 2013 so yeah It's pretty normal I guess tough there are tons of people who use bots to gain views and all that

Agreed. Especially the fact that the default home page is not dedicated to your subscription feed, which doesn't make sense at all. I'm glad though that I'm still getting views from the guys. 500+/video is enough for me, at this time.

Subscribers don't equal views or even fans really. People can subscribe to an unlimited amount of channels and you get lost in the mix anyway. View wise is more subjective (in theory) to SEO, word of mouth, sharing, likes, ect. Subscribers are just the erroneous measuring stick that people believe = their popularity. I see many channels with 100k subs but get maybe 5k views per video if that.
