Sub-time ratio and experiences?

Not looking for any standard as to "how long I should expect to wait to see subs" but I would like to know how some of you other YTTalk individuals have experienced the lows, the highs, and in general; how many subs do you have, and how long did it take you to get there? I was going to ask this on the milestone forum but I have not personally reached any, I have 0 subs (we just started, have 10 episodes recorded, 2 are uploading now).

Sorry if I am "that new guy" in asking but I just introduced myself and would like to know how the youtube experiences have been for those of all channel types, channel ages, entertainer types and entertainer ages etc.

I do random stuff, mostly dog videos and GoPro videos. You will see that randomness probably won't work if you are looking for subs. I've had videos on Youtube since 2008 and have just over 500 subs.

Word, thank you for the response it helps me feel like a member here :D. I had 27 subs on my old channel in about 2 months, but there it stayed and probably still is at (I assume it was all just my friends and family haha (I thought I sent the first part of this comment like hours ago)).

Hey, im also a gaming channel... As a lot of people here are haha. But im not gameplay focused. Anyways, it was a very slow start for me. I remember being stuck at 21 subs for 3 weeks. Then I made 1 big video (it got 2000 views in a week, which was good for me at the time) and my subs started climbing. Once that snowball started rolling, it never stopped. So the lesson of the story is be patient and stick with it, eventually things will come.

I've had my channel since June, and I have 85 subscribers, which is from 99 gained and 14 lost. Subs come in completely randomly. For example, right before the Holidays weeks, I gained 2. Then for nearly three weeks, I gained none and lost 3. Now 3 came in over the last 3 days. I wouldn't be surprised if I now entered another dead period for a couple weeks.

took years to pass 1k, about 9 total years and I'm finally at a healthy 34,000 ish.
My problem is slow upload times, (months between uploads)

Our 2014 sub stats below. After years of inconsistently uploading whenever we felt like it, 2014 was the first year we started uploading regularly, starting out with weekly then eventually building up to 3 days a week. In October we did 13 upload days in a row, and in December every single day. I think regularly scheduled uploads are the key to getting subs.

Do you know Tim Schmoyer's channel Video Creators? Earlier this week, he uploaded a video on animation channels. I didn't watch it, but perhaps you might find it interesting.[DOUBLEPOST=1420839086,1420839021][/DOUBLEPOST]

Wow! Congrats on the growth, not to mention the dedication!
