Strategy for Smaller channels with low sub count

So your making good content and no ones subscribing yeah it sucks

Here's the strategy I've use time after time:

"Turn off show number of subscribers"

Until you get a decent number of subs worth showing.

Three things I've learned about youtube as follows:
1. Most people don't like to subscribe to small channels.

2. Other youtubers with youtube channels won't subscribe to you if you're making similar content and your channel is more successful than theirs. Unless you're huge to the point where they can't compete like Pewdiepie, Markiplier etc. (Just the nature of player haters)

3. Most of your subscribers will most likely be regular users who don't operate a youtube channel

***So your focus should be regular users***

Here's what you need for this "Turn off Subscribers" strategy to work:
You'll need is either a good "controversial video" that causes people to both love and hate it.
A "funny video" or a good "how to video of a topic that people are looking for":

Once that video starts getting 50+ views an hour turn off your subscribers
They'll start subscribing based on video views at this point and they'll start actually sharing the video because views will be all they have to base you on.

Thanks for the tips. I've debated turning off my sub number, because some of the things you mentioned are true, it's hard to get folks to sub with low counts. But I'll try it out and see what happens, just trying to do my best and put my work out there!

That's interesting and all but the chances of you making an actual good controversial video and then getting people to see it would be even harder. The others are a lot easier and more shareable at least in my opinion. and you wouldn't have to turn subs off for the others types of vids.

I disagree on turning off the sub count. I know a lot of people who won't subscribe to a channel if he hides his sub count ( I won't do that honestly). I know that not subscribing to a small channel is a common mentality, but I prefer keeping the sub count clear and visible because I'm proud of every person who decide to subscribe.

But maybe who knows, can be helpful for someone!

So far I have seen no hint that hiding subscriber counts gives an advantage over revealing a low number. People tend to more easily subscribe to big channels but that's a different story.

I don't think most people (other than YouTube creators) really look too much at subscriber counts. I think that people subscribe to channels that they like. Higher sub counts get more subscribers because they have so many people watching them that their videos rank higher in search and are featured in Trending and are shown as suggested videos, so they get more of a chance to gain more subscribers.

SEO, promotion, and making good content are always going to win out over trickery meant to somehow fool an audience into subscribing to you.

Some of my original subs come back and say,
"Oh wow, I subbed back when you only had 50 subs! Crazy"
People want to root for you and it's a good way to build a community.
If you're content is good and you're getting views, people will subscribe.
