STOP THE "FIRST" COMMENT THIS YEAR

to all YouTubers big and small we should really stop with the whole commenting first on a video when it upload on YouTube and before you guys say it yes i am one of the victims who did this when i was younger but it just stupid who else agrees.
 
I treat "first" comments like any other comment, and reply in an engaging manner. My favourite reply is "Yes, you are. Do you like <topic of video here>? :)".

That acknowledges their comment (I think they subconsciously write "first" to get a reaction from somebody) and draws them into further conversation, which may result in them watching more of my videos.
 
We tried this in 1996 and no one followed through then!

Every first comment I reply with “no I was first”

This is actually a great idea! Never thought of saying something like this before :)
 
If people are clamoring to comment on your videos first, that is really great for your engagement rate, so let them battle over "first" all they want, I say!
 
I think it's cool actually. Never get tired of seeing the comments come in. When someone gets 'first' I just smile really. If it makes them happy then go for it I say. It's not spammy and isn't harming anyone either.
