Starting YouTube as a living?

Yeah I agree with Kleineganz I would spend maybe about 8-10 hours over the 7 day week doing everything with my videos, so if I got big with that, I wouldn't see any reason to do it differently until something prompted me to, I'd still try to make them more professional, but ultimately if that's what people like that's what they'll get! The thing I would think would be good about a "YouTube career" is the fact that you work in your own time to make the content, so if you wanna do 3 videos a day, you will be prepared for that, and still be able to have a life around that.

Hey, you're playing Night of the Rabbit! I know the illustrator of that game. Didn't even realize that it's already out. How do you like it so far?

Haha awesome!
And I'm loving it actually!
I literally sat at my computer waiting for it to go live so I could start playing right away! :)

I don't put in 40 hours with my current work, so I can't imagine putting in that much effort on YouTube.

If your goal is to make enough $ to live on, and your channel is currently <100 subs, my recommendation is to go panhandle. You will seriously earn more, and more consistently, than attempting to turn your YouTube into the next big thing.

That said I would recommend anyone who wants to be big spend 20 hours researching SEO. Enough that you could first teach your mother about it, then write a paper about it, then teach a several lecture class on it.
Agree 100% with him.
There is no possibility to make a living out of youtube unless its 10K subs and tons of creativity which never dies
and actually 10K is not enough you need 100K to get something like a salary

I'd go with 3-4 videos a week. I wouldn't like to really make it a "job" because it shifts how I approach everything mentally.
Maybe doing it on the side along with something else I do on the side would be nice.

For me the most important thing I've learn is to spend as little time on job as possible. I suggest you read "The 80/20 principle" by Koch. You produce 80% of your result in 20% of your time spend on it.

Do only the most important stuff and cut all the crap. That way you have the time to enjoy your live, think about new ideas and make only the coolest videos. So I would make 1 video o week and enjoy my free time :)

Nice thought, but this will happen to maybe 1 in 100 Million youtubers!

I would go to all those places where super cars are around, meet with the owners of super cars and do private video and photo shots, do every day some editing and making videos ready so I could just upload them when ready to make them public.

But currently with working 50 hours week full time job, going to and coming from work taking another 6 hours a week - I usually spend 1-4 hours a day online working both on my youtube channel and relaxing a bit.

I guess on average I spend 10-20 hours a week already on my channel, so it's like a half time job when talking about time.

cheers
