Starting a Kids Channel..

Hey Guys

I just found this forum and saw there are some kids channels in here. Well I have a lawn care channel that is doing great, I'm having fun and people are (hopefully) learning from my videos.

The problem is, my kids want in. They want to do a channel too. I know the technical aspect of a youtube channel, I just don't know how to come up with concepts for it for kids. They don't watch lawn videos lol

I really just want to have fun with them and have something we can do together but at this point in time they are looking at me for what to do a video on and I got nothing.. Any advice?

Tim

Kids can add such a great element to you content! It seems like you do a lot of lawn care. Maybe have them help you plant things. Rake, water plants, I mean really you can add them anywhere into your work. I'm sure it'd be grand and fun for the both of you. Especially if they're younger :) You might just be surprised what could happen!

Maybe @babyteeth4 can help you on the subject, since his channel features childrens, othwerwise the classical toy/movies reviews might work. Just make sure to keep them under control because, even though I don't know their age, they surely will have issues with channel management in their first phases

Yeah they do camios in my videos but they want to start a kids channel. My daughter has a ballet IG and the same rules would apply here, we don't let them do the actual website interactions without us right next to them.

I think the problem I have right now is they look at me and say what should we do? I don't know how to direct them into coming up with their own ideas.

What do your kids watch on YouTube? I would say have them make videos like that. It seems the big draw for kids on YouTube is toys. Playing with them, opening them, destroying them, describing them, etc. Definitely check in with @babyteeth4 who has a really successful channel, because that's an expert opinion who posts regularly here.

how about a channel where you do random things with your kids that only cost x amount of dollars

so, a fun afternoon for $10
a day out for under $20 or something like that

or you could do toy reviews. or trying a new hobby every week

Ask them what to do. If they have no ideas then I like @Loki Doki 's suggestions. I would keep it low key and not worry about YouTube success. Just have fun and keep the stress out of it. I have a pet channel so my idea for a video would be to do something with your pet or, if you don't have one, go to the zoo.

As the others said, ask the kids :) Check what they watch and do something with that. Most important thing is that the kids have fun!
Also, you have to think what your goal is with the channel. Just something easy for the kids to have fun with, then don't worry to much about what drags in the most views. If you want to be one of the top players eventually, I would watch a ton of channels myself before you decide what to record as well. It's insane how many kids channels are out there.

Yeah I'm not looking to be the top kids channel but I also know if it generates some revenue we can buy more toys or take a trip or what not from the proceeds and they'd get a kick out of that. But if that never happens, I'm fine with just having an archive of the fun I have with my kids over the years..
