Spent 3 Hours Fixing Tags

Today has been a busy day for me! I spent three hours straight digging through my channel's videos and fixing a TON of tags. I had no idea that such a thing called SEO existed back when I started my channel, and only recently did I start to get a grip on it. I laughed at some of the tags I had. "Art"? "Photoshop"? Like, how the crap am I gonna rank for that? XD

I only managed to make it through less than half of my videos before I fell asleep T_T (I have almost 300 videos now, when did that happen?!) I'll get to the rest soon enough. Coincidentally, after fixing up one of my older videos, it got a comment, haha.

I'd love to see this having an affect on my views. They've been hovering around 100 per day for over a year now. ;o;

Well I certainly hope that it will make a difference but tags aren't actually that influential in where your video ranks anymore :(. It is more important to pay attention to things like the title, description and your watch time. It is definitely a good idea to have a good understanding of SEO though :).

Yeah, unfortunately the system keeps changing under my feet ;o; But at least it cleans things up and I'll have tags that make a lot more sense, haha. Still doing my best on the rest though. (I'll probably have to go back and change a lot of my old titles/descriptions as well. Oi.) It's a lot to learn and figure out @_@
 
I think you don't rank on tags at all. You only show up for keywords that are in the title/description. Tags might have some effect on where you rank for those keywords, but it's mostly about watch time. I wonder if tags have some effect on suggested videos, that's where we really want to show up.

Yeah YouTube is changing changing things up all the time, just keep on learning and soon you'll be an expert :).

Tags have to do something for SEO, else they wouldn't bother having that feature. Might as well have better tags than crappy ones, haha. I know it's mostly about watch time, but I figured it'd be worth the effort to fix up the SEO.

Thanks! This made me want to check my tags and some I was like wtf haha!
 
Fun Fact : Tags matter.. a lot !
I found funny how a lot of SEO specialist site state that Tags are not that important...

Similar tags put your video on the recommended video panel on the left of other videos.
