Spanking your kids?

Laying hands on children is not allowed in Norway, and I feel every kind of violence is abuse.

Well breaking the law is another thing, so don't do it.

But you can't really say that "studies show" blah blah blah because every child will react differently. You shouldn't really discipline a child until they understand the difference between right and wrong.

Spanking is something last resort you do if the child doesn't listen, and it's only affective to a select few.

If other things such as timeouts, like Katherine said, work fine, then spanking isn't needed.

I love my parents to death and I've been spanked. Now I always think twice before doing something xD

Totally agree.
Discipline is the best using WORDS. Punishment. Priveledge taken away.

Hitting a child is so easy, so low like Tommy said.[DOUBLEPOST=1369854844,1369854785][/DOUBLEPOST]
Way older. Wowe I aint a grandma.

My point is I think youre missing a little life experience here. Or opennesss.
Well if you're been to uni you most be at least 5 years older than me, really so just because I'm younger than you I've had less experience, and how do you know if I'm open or not, you don't know me or who I am

If my parents ever hit me, I would send the child service on them. And I would resent them for the rest of my life, and I would do anything in my power to make their lives miserable.
Laying hands on children is the lowest you can sink. It makes me sick.

Violence is never the solution, you have to use words and teach disiplin in another more effective way.
Just watch supernanny, and you will see how things should be done.

This is quite a naive way to look at it, and unfortunately a lot of society does look at it this way. What this view on things actually does is make it look like the kid is to blame.

Why didnt they call child services. why didnt they tell someone, if i was in that situation i would have got help.

Its not that easy when you are in that situation, these are the people that have raised you and 99 percent of the time are loving towards you and then the 1 percent of time when they lose their cool and get mad you should called the police. I never once thought about calling child services or the police because quite frankly it makes things worse.

and supernanny ? please if she came to the area i lived it wouldnt be long untill one of the kids stabbed her with a sharpened toothbrush

Yes . You can say that.

Surpringly, humans are REALLY predictible. We react almost the same way to situations.

Look per example: the death of a loved one or a breakup.
Everybody goes threw the same stages. Not a the same time but its pretty similar.

And trust me, no one will react in a good way when getting spank. Like I said, most kids will just try to hide more what they have done.
So you will get your kids to learn how to lie to avoid getting hit.
And thats part of the study that I read last year. I could show you the paper but its in french.

I agree on the point that parents love you 99 percent of the time, and it's very rarely parents flip out

Youre not open cause youre saying scientific studies are s**t.
And that school is s**t.

Education is the most precious and important thing that we have.
Knowledge cannot be taken away from you in any ways.

Thats how you grow. You learn stuff.

Good it can stay in French, I'm a "kid" and obviously people will react badly when getting hit, I mean who the hell likes pain, also even if you didn't get hit, but still told of for doing something, you wouldn't want them to know

Of course kids will hide what they've done, whether you've spanked them or not. It's human nature to hide any mistakes that you've made.
