Spamming is the best way to grow??

I Love YTtalk
I know spamming has a really bad name, but I have seen loads of people grow so quickly because of this. By spamming I mean go onto loads of smaller channels and say stuff like 'wanna join my shoutout series', 'you deserve more subs', 'you have lots of potential' and just stuff like that. Don't wanna name the guy, but I have seen a fellow youtuber who has completely surpassed me in terms of subs and views, do this and has hundreds of subs and gets very high consistent views on his videos so they aren't inactive or anything like that. As I said spamming does have a bad name, but the the sheer number of channels out there, maybe you have to really push your videos out there and force your way through the crowd to actually grow?? I mean some bigger youtubers use 'dirty' tactics like clickbait thumbnails, misleading titles... so maybe us smaller youtubers should not always try to be the 'good guys' growing the legit way? Just a thought, and I still think spamming is a bad way to grow but It works for most people who do it!

There are clever ways people spam to get attention off other people's videos. I honestly find it scummy and don't want to be known as a channel that grew from spamming, but that's just my pride speaking. The reason I think it's not good is because I don't think anyone has a right to comment on someone's content that they worked on and have the audacity to steal their viewers. Of course I understand where your coming from. Being a small YouTuber it is extremely hard to get noticed, a lot of big YouTubers have definitely not grown because of them being the "good guys" and following the community principles. That may be people's argument but at the end of the day If you want to have no pride and grow quickly then that's your choice. Whether you get blocked for being a spammer is a risk that people are willing to take then it's their choice but that just splits their fan base and If you ever have beef with someone or get featured then it's something that will be brought up. I think we have to avoid looking at YouTubers who do well with spam and look at channels who have not spammed and have grown from being small. I have seen a lot of small channels grow legitimately because they are clever about pushing the right content out. Look at Leafy he got a millions subs in a year because he created his own niche, I remember when he literally had 100 subs and quite happy that I found him that early on. There is another guy I know who pushes his own niche of mobile gaming and has never spammed. He is doing so well because he knows how make content that people want to watch which I think is a skill in itself. But some people just want to have fun with their videos and don't really care for YouTube as a career.

Yeah i think its kind of scummy too, because a lot of the time the person commenting does not even watch the video they comment on. But yeah I still think spamming is a bad thing, but I have just seen lots of people benefit from it. I think leafy is just a 1 in a million, who actually managed to make content that has not been done by so many other youtubers before so congrats to him for managing to do that. I guess people who do spam are kind of desperate of success too

Yh obviously leafy is lucky but competition is so huge right now that you have to have a business mindset if you wanna try to grow your channel properly because the videos you may want to make may not be popular due to competition so you end up making videos that people will watch which you may not always enjoy making. I find it scummy but at the same time I understand that people just want to have their content seen by people and some channels who actually make decent content don't always grow and I think they deserve those views which is why am hoping that one day we will get a network that actually supports and promotes smaller channels that deserve it.

True yeah, and plus if you are making videos just because they are popular right now and not because you want to make them you are prob doing youtube for the wrong reasons. At the end of the day i think all content creators want to be noticed and get more views/subs, and I guess everybody selects different ways to grow. We are all wishing a network like that came along... :(

TRUE! Lot of YouTubers who got nothing great in their channel GROW so rapidly with views and subs because of Spamming and SUB4SUB. It does work to rank your channel higher but it is like we are betraying ourselves, growing with the legit views is good enough to grow slowly.

In my opinion I think spamming is a bad thing, your basically advertising yourself on other people's video that they put hard work into & not giving them the feedback and support that they deserve. Truth is if you're going to comment on someones video you should comment because you want to, not because you want to gain subscribers and views & people notice the genuine and kind people over the people who forcefully ask for subscribers. Youtube should be a journey, not a race to get to 1 million subscribers :) Everyone has different opinions but this is what I think :)

Some people find different ways to grow I guess. Yeah It does kind of feel like a dirty way to grow thou, and growing the legit way just makes you feel much better overall[DOUBLEPOST=1455194008,1455193869][/DOUBLEPOST]

Good opinion yeah, Im defo with you about the thing that its kind of disrespectful to the content creator when people advertise on your videos. Unfortuantly, loads of people do have the frame of mind that they are always going after subs and view :/ And lots of people also see it as a race, but It isn't!

I agree that spamming is bad. I think like most things there are lots of people there just for the hopes of making it big. They don't care what they do to get there. I'll admit it really rubbs me the wrong way when someone comments on my channel with a video of theirs to watch.Especially when i watch another video and see the same comment on it as on mine :cautious2: I think most people that comment something honest make me more inclined to check them out.
