Sound lagging behind... Or ahead.

Janzen

That random Norwegian guy...
I do not know what is causing this.
But when I record with FRAPS alone, the sound and video is in perfect harmony.
If I also do a facecam (Seen in my latest Titanfall video), you can easily see that the video and voice is not in sync after a few minutes, and it continues in going further and furter out of sync.

This is also a problem with Audacity.
I run Audacity and FRAPS at the same time, but Audacity will also start lagging behind the video.
I also have the same problem with DxTory.

Now.. Anyone know what the problem could be? Any ideas at all?

usually the problem can be cause by a frame drop, somewhere in the video, which would slow the video down for a coupla seconds making the audio slightly shorter, hence why when you record them both with the same software it's fine because they would both be slowed for those few seconds but when you record them seperately, the video would slow down when the famerate drops but the audio would keep recording fine, it's an annoying problem and sadly I don't know how to fix it :(

why dont you record audio separately? using an external device like me? it sounds just as professional and its quite cheap! ;-)

That sounds like the answer to why.
Now I just to have to figure out how.

@TheRealPlayer28
I listend to one of your videos, and the quality just does not cut it for me. If I want to change something with my audio setup it is to get a better microphone, not downgrade.
But thanks for the input though.

if you want your mic audio separate from your game audio, bandicam has an option that lets you record both in separate files but done through the same software :D

Janzen, I suspect your primary issue is due to the device you're recording onto. When you record with FRAPS, or any other screen capture device, you experience a certain framerate, but often a different framerate is what is actually being written to the .avi. If you are playing a game on the same hard drive that you're recording to, this can cause a bit of a disconnect in the timing as keebzy mentioned. It's not that Audacity is lagging at all. In fact, Audacity is your gold standard for timing.

Now, what can you do to fix this? Well, you can put in another hard drive to record to. Or you could try out DXTory. DXTory can record multiple audio streams. YOu would set it to record game audio and also microphone audio. When you're done the session, right click the video file and choose extract audio. Then you can edit your vocal audio file, normalize, compress, noise removal etc. Re-edit them all back together and be on your way. The DXTory one may have dropped frames as well, but because the same program is recording both game and vocal audio, those dropped frame skips won't cause a change in the overall timing.

Hey man, i sometimes have audio and video sync issues, but this can be easily solved by right clicking on your file and selecting Extract Audio Steam. This will Divide your video up in to usually 3 separate files:
1: Video
2: Game Audio
3: Microphone Audio

You can then sync them manually in your editing software :) Hope this helps[DOUBLEPOST=1400458774,1400458660][/DOUBLEPOST]Forgot to mention that the whole Extract Audio Steam option only works with files recorded with Dxtory. If you already recorded the video in fraps or something, try screen recording the video with Dxtory and then Extract The Audio :)
