Sony Vegas Problem?

Couple of quick things:

• Make sure you're not writing to your boot drive
• Make sure you have RAM (and don't have other processes running that are being memory hogs)

It's most likely my RAM. I only have 4GB and have been having problems with not enough hard drive space as well. I have an external but only though of using it to free up space on my HDD. Will also be trying to purchase more/better RAM soon. Thanks!

Rendering to an external hard drive can be helpful, even if the drive is slow - because access to a drive is something regulated by the operating system. To oversimplify, every time an app wants to do something with the hard drive, it has to get in the queue.

If you're running on your boot drive, a bunch of operating system tasks are also in that same queue, so your editor has to wait in line a ton each time it wants to write or read a snippet.
