Sony Vegas or nah?

I use Movie Studio Platinum. Its very accessible and it has a built in guide that teaches you how components you don't understand work. Its also by Sony (I don't know if its related to the Vegas line).
Movie Studio is considered the "consumer" version of what Vegas Pro is.
meh its meh it crashed 4 times when i used it to put subtitles on my prankcall
That's not uncommon. You have to be careful that you're not working too fast in it otherwise it will choke. Vegas Pro 13 is being announced at the NAB show soon. I'm looking forward to see if there are fewer bugs, including more reliable HitFilm integration, then I'll make my final judgement on it. I'm satisfied with 12's feature set, but not its stability.

Would you say that Movie Studio is worth it for starting out a channel? I'd love to have a fully functioning editing software, I just don't have 600$ to spend right now. Haha

Yeah, I believe it gives you enough to get things done. Compositing shots in it isn't the best though. I rely on HitFilm Ultimate for that. They have an "Edit" version of Vegas Pro 12 that leaves out DVD authoring and such other useless things for people just making online videos. It costs less than the full suite. I'm hoping they do that with 13.

The Movie Studio 13 version is a little different in UI and focuses a bit more on touch-capability, moving away from what Vegas\Movie Studio has been for the longest time, which I think is unnecessary but I'll leave it to people who have actually used it to say. I'm a Vegas user.

all of the free video editing software are nowhere near as good as vegas pro, ill just go with vegas pro or adobe. but you can try lightworks. google free video editing software.

Is there any other type of Video Editing thats good other than Sony Vegas? Is there any free good ones that have quality? Please tell me and the rest of YTTalk!

I'll be the odd man out and say Cyberlink Powerdirector or Corel VideoStudio X7 if you want good but cheap software. Used Vegas years ago and hated it because of the interface. If you want to go high end there's always Magix but I use Cyberlink for almost everything. Adobe CS5 only comes in if I need to do a professional thing like a wedding or funeral.

Premiere Pro is the best software I've used by far. It's a steep learning curve but it's worth learning.

CyberLink PowerDirector is also very good. It's just not as powerful as Premiere Pro but for the price, especially if you're a student, you can't beat it.
