Sony Vegas or After Effects For YouTube Poops?

Premiere is designed for the initial edit and After Effects is designed for for doing Effects After the edit.

So the real question is Premiere or Sony Vegas. In this case Premiere is always the winner.

After Effects completely stomps sony vegas. It is designed for doing visual effects and much more. However, it is not designed for initial edits, That is just silly.

Using After Effects for your initial edit just seems so counter productive. The phrase "time is money" comes into play here. Having to ram preview every time you want to view vs. real time editing has to slow you down so much and I feel sorry for you lol.
 
After effects is more like special effects, so if you're using a green screen and stuff and require some special editing after effects is probably what you would use, premiere and sony are more for basic editing, although you can get some great presets etc you can get better special effects on after effects
 
I have Sony Vegas Pro. The video preview is unwatchably laggy, even on the most basic videos. Let me put it to you this way...Windows Movie Maker runs the same clip smoothly but Vegas runs it very choppily. It frequently crashes and special fx make it lag and crash more. For youtube poops I can't do them with Movie Maker or Vegas. Movie Maker is too simple and laggy, Vegas has what I need but it's useless because the framerate is like half a frame per second.

Sony Vegas or WMM if you're traditional. What's the point of adding special effects to a Ytp? If they want special effects, then Ytpmv's are the way to go. It's like saying you have to have those "flashy", eye-catching effects, in a Ytp, but what really matters is the quality of your trimming and editing of clips. Are they funny and meaningful? Same for Ytpmv's. Pitchshifting accuracy over visuals anyday. There are plenty of good videos that never mask or use special effects.

Personally, I make Ytpmv's, but I stick to the traditional pan/crop, without masking.

Either way, it's up to you if you want to add effects.

Plenty of youtube poops use special effects. When you need to have it appear like as though something is interacting with a clip, when it really isn't, you need masking. For example, you could have a guy walking silly across the screen, and without masking you're fine. Until that guy comes across a tree in the foreground. Then you need to use masking so it looks like he's behind the tree. Or if people are watching a TV and someone walks in front of the TV. And special effects are often seen in high quality poops, usually accompanied by ear piercing sounds, to simulate wacky, drug-induced hallucinations.

All these techniques, are just techniques, nothing more. Knowing them doesn't automatically make your video good. But if you have a good imagination, and you don't know your techniques...then how are you going to fulfill your original dreams? You'll have to change something about them, and remove content because you don't know how to accomplish that.

In my case, I have the technical knowledge on how to do stuff, its just my software never wants to cooperate with me. Like I know how to mask, but when I mask it freezes and the movie lags so much its useless.
