I found that with Vegas, sometimes you need to save the file, exit out of the program, go back and open the program and, then render it.
I don't know why but I encountered some issues before where I rendered a file and it only rendered 5 seconds of a the entire thing...
I saved--exited--reopenede-rendered again--and it was fine after that.
If that doesn't work try and check (not uncheck) maintain aspect ratio.
When you started to edit the video clip what setting did you start off with, and has this happened prior to this incident?
