Ok so you know how you get those comments on bigger youtubers channels where people promote themselves with things that make them feel bad and subscribe, well i did that for the first time a few days ago and it turned out well. I got like some hate like "Be original with your comment" or "Kill yourself" But other than that i gained 40 subs and they are now active and liking my videos. The question i ask you guys is, should i keep doing this cheap method? Discuss below

I mean - it's entirely up to if you want to do that or not. Personally I dislike that method because it makes you feel like you've guilt tripped them into subscribing and being active on your channel, as well as - it does cause quite a bit of haters to appear. On top of that it makes you look whiny and desperate for subscribers. As well as you said, it can forever tarnish your reputation as "oh aren't you the guy that begged for subscribers?" as you said. I don't know man, it's up to you how you run your channel but I wouldn't do that.

Thats exactly how i feel right now but its also a good way to effectively grow your channel

Effective growth or not, you have to ask yourself - is it worth it? Because you could compare it to buying subscriptions - you can grow your channel by buying subscribers but it's not worth it.

Yes, why not. But you must follow two rules:

- leave only meaningful comments
- don't do it too often

In anyway if you do not follow these two conditions the YouTube algorithm will mark your comments as spam and make them invisible!

I got called Mike Vick and was told to burn in hell when we were first allowed to leave videos in the comments. I posted a similar dog video on somebody's video to show that I had a same negative reaction, and basically somebody wanted me to die and I got no subs from it. I wasn't even out for views, I just wanted to share a similar negative feedback I had.

What Chottom and KillaDays said pretty much sums up my thoughts. Let me add to this discussion by saying that Collaborating is way more effective when it comes to growing though. Emphasis on the 'way more effective' part. Some people will say "no, it isn't" but those are the people who do collabs and don't see results because no viewer wanted to watch or subscribe to their channel after a collab.

It's about making an impression with collaborations. It's not just about cross promotion and growing an audience. Two minds aren't always better than one but that better be the case when you put out a video with another YouTuber. Double the people and it means double the effort, entertainment, interest and value of the video collaboration. When doing video collaborations go into them with the mindset "What can I learn?" instead of how many views and subscribers you can gain.

I guarantee a collab can help you especially if you are a gaming channel.

I mean, I do not like that method at all. I try to comment things that people like and hopefully in turn they check out my channel, but never do I ask directly. I say that if it works for you and you are willing to deal with the criticism then do what you wish! Good luck :D
