Other Software/Game Development Cooperative Idea

Hello,

I own a YouTube channel on which I want to provide free educational videos teaching viewers a wide range of programming, game development and other computer/IT related skills.

I recently surpassed 100 subscribers and since have been gaining subscribers faster, so now I want to take YouTube more seriously. I have been doing a lot of planing of the past few days and thinking about what I want to do with my channel.

One thing we don't see often on educational channels is co-operative videos, esspecially within the software development area. I was thinking that doing co-op series could bring some humor and fun to education rather then them just seeming sterile.

I had an idea of doing some sort of game or software development series accross two or more channels. The people involved in the series would decide on a brief overview of what they want the to be about and what needs to be covered in the series. One person would begin the development in the first episode, then the project would be given to the next person to continue where it was left of. The project would keep on being passed back and forward to all the people involved in the series until it was complete. A playlist would be made for the series so viewers could easily find the next episode even though it is on a different channel.

This would produce an interesting series with multiple benefits for the viewers and content creators:
  • Viewers would be exposed to multiple channels which they may not have known about.
  • Viewers would see that everyone has different ways of thinking about things and solving problems
  • Viewers would not have to listen to the same person speaking in every video.
  • Content creators won't need to be responsible for creating a whole series by themselves.
  • Content creators would get to meet and work with others.

Also another idea I had was to do a competitive development series. An example would be that two people had to try to replicate the game "Flappy Bird" as best as they could, but in a small time frame. Both people involved would play each-others games at the end and the viewers could vote on a winner.

Please let me know what you think of these ideas, even if you are not a education content creator. If you are interested in joining me to make one of these happen please let me know.

Thanks for reading!

Well, the first idea I would not be able to join you in doing (I am programming in GameMaker: Studio, and I can see you are doing Unity) - however the second one, the competition one, sounds like a lot of fun :)

I am making programming tutorials on my channel, so it would be very fitting to do ^^
