Software for Cool Thumbnails?

David Stoll

Not to be taken seriously
Hey, I think there is a recent post on this, but I couldn't locate it, so bear with me. I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit my videos. In the past, I have put the video title in my thumbnail by using the Title function and taking an snapshot of a frame from the video.

Now, though, I want to add cool shapes, images, or effects (depending on the video) to whatever video frame I use. What software would be best for this? After Effects? Photoshop? Other?

Thanks much!

Photoshop definitely, it is designed to be used for making images, I make all my thumbnails in it. If you want you could opt for GIMP which is free :)[DOUBLEPOST=1417536795][/DOUBLEPOST]Moved this here too :)

As said before Photoshop or GIMP is the way to go, GIMP is free unlike Photoshop so maybe that will influence your decision?

Thanks! I don't mind paying if PS is much better. I went from iMovie to Premiere Pro once my skills grew enough to demand it.

Photoshop without a doubt, it is one of the most popular image manipulation/editing program, you can currently get Photoshop CS2 for free from Adobe's website, it's considerable old but still have similar layout to the latest version Creative Cloud.

Photoshop is the best option but if you're wanting a good free option I highly recommend "paint.NET" or "GIMP".
Definitely worth the time to have a go at and once you're used to it it's amazing.

Hey David! Fancy seeing you here!

I always use picmonkey.com. It's free and has so many templates and fonts and graphics and overlays and you can also upload your own stuff too. I tend to take 1-4 screen shots from my video or take pictures I know I want to use, and then create a collage in picmonkey.com. Then once it's laid out how I want, I click on edit and change the lighting and add texts and graphics and stuff. It's really awesome!
