Softbox help???

Hey guys, so basically now it's the winter I'm really struggling with the lighting in my house for my videos, as it is quite a dark and shadowy house, so I'm going to get some of these softbox things! Has anyone got any advice on what I should be looking for to make sure they are decent ones? I'm on eBay at the moment just getting confused haha, thanks :)

I'm no pro, but I have a whole setup on amazon for around 80-100 USD haha if you want to spend that much!

EDIT: Forgot to add, that's with the lightbulbs and the fancy gadgets. You can softboxes and umbrellas for like < 50 USD on amazon!
 
How much you looking to spend? i got myself two 120w umbrella lights for my backdrop and a 400W builders light that i reflect off the wall infront for more even lighting

If you go to amazon and search "video lighting", they are called
2 x Continuous Lighting Kit 50x70cm Softbox
and currently cost £68.88

These are the ones I use, relatively inexpensive and I think they've really improved my video quality.

Those aren't bad softboxes.

I'd recommend looking into the Cowboy studios softboxes. They are very extremely cheap yet professional quality. I bought two when I started my first channel 5 years ago. I never once collapsed them or tore them down. I smashed them in my car with all my other equipment and drove 6 hours to shoots every weekend for 3 years doing college and just last month I broke my first softbox. "All that happened was a fuse blew, 5 dollar replacement"

The lights in the softbox are great and if for whatever reason they go out or break you can replace them with everyday lights, so just steal some from mom and no cost to you. In the 5 years I've had my lights I have not had one go out and die. The only exception is when a gust of wind stole my softbox during an outdoor nighttime shoot, I had two lights shatter. So I just put two normal lights in and boom good to go.

Please note that I am a full time filmmaker doing this as my job. Nothing else and this is what I use for every shoot for the past 5 years lol.

You can actually get a two softbox setup, carrying case, and green,black and white screen with backdrop stand for only $200. I know you said your looking for 60 dollars but the quality/quantity you get is worth spending a little more and christmas is right around the corner =P
 
I was actually shocked by how cheap the cowboy studio lights were.
I was less impressed that it costs 5 times more to have it shipped than the actual freaking price.

We have Amazon Prime so it didn't cost anything for the shipping. I also bought the Cowboy Studio Lights. One of the bulbs was DOA (1/2 black, not emitting hardly any light) and the other bulb started flickering on the second video that I use it.

Now I'm going to have to look for replacement bulbs because they are twice as long as regular house-hold CFL's. (Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs.)
