Sock Or No Sock? [Mic]

LegitHuman

I've Got It
So I've got my mic and it picks up my PC's fan and some noises I can barely hear (With my headset on)...and I'm wondering if a sock would help or if it won't or if other ways will work as well w/o having to put a sock on it (It just looks so cool)...I'm also worried that the sock might just muffle the sound...

Info:
It's Samson Meteor Mic with a 50% volume which I can change if needed...

Thanks, LH

Trail and error my friend, trial and error.

I guess that will be the best (and most obvious) choice...I've realised that it was 0n 81% so that's sort of fixed now but I'm still hoping to find pros and cons of socks...
As far as I know they work more like a pop-filter not a noise cancelation system :) Might not block out the fan at all, but it's hard to say yes or now without seeing your set up and such. Literally just try it and see which sounds better. Also try different thicknesses of socks.

I might try it then...thanks :)

I actually have a sock over my Blue Yeti mic and it acts exactly like a pop filter. My tip would be to use a thin sock and if its to thin just double it over.

Pop filters have absolutely nothing to do with ambient room noise. A sock will not fix fan noise, nor would a pop filter. Turn the input volume down, get the mic closer to your face, apply noise removal in your audio editor.
