Socialblade updates its ranking algorithm.

Wow, the new algorithm likes us, at least for now! We jumped from 554 to 328! I see some big channels got hit pretty hard though. I don't know much about the rankings though or if they have any significance to brands or anything valuable?

From SocialBlade FAQ/Help page...
''When SocialBlade was created we first just listed rankings based on # of subscribers and # of views, but it quickly became evident that this was not an accurate indicator of how people were actually doing on youtube. Someone could have a bazillion subscribers that they cheated to get but not have any actual views. The SB ranking system aims to measure a channel's influence based on how many views they are actually getting, how they are doing networking wise (i.e. who has them in their box), and other factors. If you have a A+, A, or A- SB rank then consider yourself very influential on youtube. If you're not there quite yet don't fret, just keep up the good work!''

Although honestly Brian, I don't think you need Social Blade to let you know you're doing a good job, LOL! ;)

That makes sense. The old system was ridiculous whereby channels with high total sub / view counts from years ago who were no longer active or getting many daily views were still ranked highly.

I got upgraded from B- to a B Onwards and upwards :)

Woot! I went from a D to a C-! What is interesting is my SocialBlade rank is much higher than mu subscriber rank or my view rank. Obviously I got into YouTube in order to have a high SocialBlade ranking, so that is a good thing. :) Also, the top end of my annual earnings went up from $36 to $40! *retires from day job*

So Socialblade finally updates their ranking algorithm (according to their Twitter) after who knows how long, so what do you think?
I personally find it fairer to new Youtubers, the ranking better reflects their standings now from what I can see.
Also I finally got the C- rank I have been chasing since Oct 2013, so yeah I like it. :D

What do you think about the SB ranking system now? :wideyed2:

I came here to post this same thing but I see others already noticed.

At a B- now woot woot

Well, i'm still not top so the algorithm must be buggy or something! Haha! I managed to be a C- which for our small channel can only be a good thing.

I actually think those channels got hit the hardest. It's like they got ranked all over again. More fair to the newcomers though. :p
