So what is a linked comment?

I think it's a comment from before the G+ integration, you can't reply to it because the reply system now works by tagging someone's G+ profile in your comment, and the comment you are trying to reply to doesn't have a G+ account associated with it.

Might be wrong about some/all of that though ;)
