So What is a Content ID match?

I want to use Monstercat Music in the upcoming video and they say that YouTubers can use their music in their videos, but will have a Content ID match on the video.

I'm so small, I didn't opt to monetize any of my videos, so I don't know if this would really have any impact anyways, I guess I just want to know what a "Content ID match" actually means?

Here is the link to their licensing if you want a look: https://www.facebook.com/notes/mons...censing-youtube-gaming-policy/455282374557841

I believe they just mean that at the bottom of your description it will have a link directing people to their song on itunes, or wherever. Like. if you look at most music videos at the bottom it will show this:

It means your video will have a third party match if you use their music and you will not be able to monetize the video. Your video will still have ads and Monstercat will get all the money.

If you want to use their music and monetize the video, you have to purchase a license from them, which I believe has a monthly fee. The license will whitelist your channel and therefore no third party matches will appear if you use their music.

Content ID just means that Youtube has found something in your vids that belong to a third party. Usually it's harmless and has not much effect on your videos, but sometimes the copyright holder can get aggressive(not sure if that's the right adjective) and proceed to block your vids in some countries, mute the audio or even strike it down.

If you follow the instructions on Monstercat's license, you should be completely fine and it won't affect your videos much. So don't worry :D

Thanks guys! mixing it up for the music in a part of the video since it's a 100+ subscribers thank you video. Found some MonsterCat stuff that will work well, so I'll just follow the guidelines and party on!
