If My Thought Dreams Could Be Seen...
And maybe I am incorrect, but it can't hurt:

May miscalculate your views...

Can anyone confirm or dis-confirm this, I believe I read it in various FAQ sections of YT? If so please cite it for the YTT community, and thanks.

hmm not sure but i would guess in a way it does because every time you go to your channel it will automatically play and it would count as a view, so if you check your channel 60 times throughout the day, thats 60 views on that video that came from you...

I think that sounds logical and why YT would put out that caveat, thanks for responding.

Yeah true, that is one problem about auto play. But when ever I go to my channel, I quickly enable the 'browse' so it does not affect me.

I have gained quite a lot of views through this feature, as people who come straight to my channel will be hit with my latest video, already playing. BONUS FOR THEM

I had the same thoughts, regarding the benefits of autoplay and hitting the viewer, but I am concerned if it doesn't accurately track them... Something is better than nothing I suppose, but I'd rather not sell my efforts discounted for short-term exposure, especially if monetized. I've heard of other people experiencing stagnation in their views in comparison to other content, while still receiving usual Likes, comments, and subs, so that's my purpose for the thread.

But I think you make a great point and I appreciate the 'browse' tip too. :)

Yeah that is true. WEll it can always be disabled, maybe you should try that, and see what happens?

Absolutely, and I have... As a result I have noted more consistent activity (i.e. views) on the featured video too. I'm just a little noise, but for someone who is getting a lot of traffic, this may be a slight technicality, which may be circumvented by doing the same.

Update:

So I found the following article. Keep in mind this is just one source's educated opinion... As I said earlier in this thread, I do recall YT expressly stating in a FAQ section, (haven't found it again, but haven't delved that far into a pursuit of finding it again) that it MAY miscalculate:

The article is as follows and may be found in it's original format @: http://gigaom.com/video/youtube-says-autoplays-dont-count/

~~ After weeks of speculation about its autoplay view-counting policy and at least one high-profile news story, YouTube has revealed that the company purposefully does not count video autoplays.
“Autoplaybacks are not counted toward the visible ‘views’ numbers displayed on the YouTube site because autoplaybacks are not viewer initiated,” a YouTube spokesperson said via email, adding that viewcounts should be a reflection of the interests and intents of video viewers. “The majority of videos are not affected by this.”

YouTube did not answer follow-up questions aimed at finding out why the majority of videos are not affected. Presumably most embedded videos use YouTube’s default embed code, which requires user interaction to play.

It is possible to tweak the embed code so a video plays automatically each time the page loads. Though this method has historically resulted in higher view counts for video producers, it also has the potential to annoy users and undermine advertiser confidence in the video-sharing site.

YouTube said previously that the company has measures in place to discount false ad impressions.

YouTube revealed its autoplay policy after NewTeeVee inquired about the view counts for a forthcoming story on the breakout hit Imaginary *******, which has garnered millions of views over the course of nine episodes. Some of those views, however, seem to come from autoplay embeds in the comment sections of high-traffic MySpace profiles. ~~
