So...Fangirling... :P

Okay, I'm not really the fangirling type o guy, but it sure does feel nice to get a response by the mother of all vlogging, zefrank.

Haha, I hope I can eventually join this fangirling club. I just need to somehow get my favorite Youtubers to notice that I've liked and watched and commented on almost every video... :p

I was a huge fan of KingDaddyDmac for years, watching all his stuff. (he's part of the mindcrack team) and one day I commented on his video and he replied but then added me on skype. We started talking and now we are good friends. I couldnt believe it. I still "fan-girl" everytime we talk.

It is actually not that hard if you're trying for it. What you want to do is giving them an opportunity to shine. Set them up for an easy goal. You have to have their (funny and witty) answer already in your head when you're typing your comment. It's like writing dialog for a movie.

Same goes for Twitter. You have to know your subject and kinda think even more about their possible response, than your comment. You want to get noticed in a Kevin Smith Q&A? Present him with an opportunity to make fun of religion. Anyone who is currently touring, or selling something? Give them the chance to plug their stuff.

Be the good helping friend. Be Samwise Gamgee.

If you're thinking the right way, it's pretty easy to get mentioned, to start conversations with other commentators or to get top comments. Looking at the last 7 days in analytics (yesterday isn't in there yet) I had top comments on a Vsauce video, a Crash Course and have gotten traffic from 6 different videos by bigger YouTubers. Well 5 big ones, one of them was just gisikw .

But it isn't about the traffic in and by itself, that isn't really that much, you rarely get more than 10 views (although I did get a subscriber through the Vsauce comment) it's more an indicator that you are being part of the community and that people like what you're writing...
