Small youtubers

It's very true. You are required to pay for ads. We see the big YouTubers' ads more often because they pay for the most ads on the site. It would be illegal for YouTube for give free ads to big YouTubers and force smaller YouTubers to pay for ads.

I make talking videos I guess? Depends what you wanna call them Vlogger or Entertainer hm
 
I watch smaller channels at least with this account, (Usually 1-20K) I really don't know what I do tbh. it could be just vlogging but who knows...
 
We're a tiny parody music channel, and we get some hits from "suggested videos". But if we ever showed up on the front page in some fancy placement, I'd probably faint. :D I love watching musicians like Walk Off The Earth, Terabrite, Peter Gergely... and gamers, mostly the big ones everyone knows. :)

Good job on appearing on suggested videos!
I appeared on the frontpage once in 2010, back than you literally had "5 seconds of fame" because they would show newest uploaded videos on the front page.
Good old times.

I think I remember that front page deal, when I was back in the watching YouTube phase, before the making-crazy-content phase. :)

We lucked out a little bit because we've had some views driven up by "celebs" acknowledging us on social media. Like, we did a Honey Boo Boo song and the mom loved it and tweeted it; we did a PewDiePie song, which he replied back to us on Twitter, etc. I think those "lucky" higher viewed videos get more attention. It's like a catch-22... you need more views to be higher ranked to get more views. Ay yi yi... :)

What? I don't think any YouTubers pay youtube for ads. Anyone can get use YouTubes fan finder which is free and put out 30 second ads that you can skip after 5 seconds. And the latest YouTube campign that featured Bethany Mota, Michelle Phan, ERB, Rosanna Possino, and Vice it was YouTubes idea to do the campaign, not the Youtuber. The suggested videos and channels to watch are usually more popular ones, but they don't pay for it. I don't know what you are talking about, I haven't even seen any other ad for a popular YouTuber besides the ones I listed above. And I don't think that is the reason Youtubers are so popular Bethany Mota had over 5 million subs before YouTube even started her campaign.

Go to your videos and click the arrow near edit. There you will be directed to the campaign page. You only pay when someone clicks on your video and watches it. That's what I'm referring to!
