Posting Mad!
I get where you are coming from. I did try and spin it saying I get free games to play so it is all good but he wasn't having any of it. He referenced his niece in her young teens watching "tripe" on youtube.[DOUBLEPOST=1465679056,1465678716][/DOUBLEPOST]That sort of reply has nothing to do with "small" YTers in my opinion. It just has to do with YT in general.
Outside of music videos and clips from shows/films, what do you see plastered on the front page of YT when you're not even signed into an account? People like PDP and company. What does the average adult "see" if they ever end up clicking on such a video? They see another adult who's purposefully being ridiculous and yelling and cursing at the camera while playing video games (and makes millions off of that, which probably doesn't help perceptions).
The people who are the "faces" of YT who end up on the front page don't exactly come off as people who produce "intelligent, meaningful content."
To the average onlooker who uses YT on the side to merely look up some clips or songs here and there, people who have a career on YT are loud, annoying, and repulsive.
Like your potential boss, this perspective may encompass all people who produce original content for YT in general.
I'm not saying this is correct - I'm merely saying that's how a lot of people see YT. Brash and annoying over-acting personalities yelling at a camera. And honestly, it's not at all hard to see why some people would think this.
It wouldn't have bothered me if it was just a guy at the pub or just a colleague. The fact that it is someone who is deciding the future of my family discourages me a lot. It is a set me up for life kind of job and Youtube fits into it perfectly (it is a sales job, which in my opinion is what Youtube is). He was a good bloke though and like I said in my original post, people from round here do not have the ability to think before they speak (a Yorkshiremans greatest gift in my opinion).Well, sounds like typical sheer ignorance and reacting based on said ignorance. People that don't understand, or worse yet, don't WANT to understand something and its success will more than likely have disdain for it. Same thing happens within the fitness industry (which I'm in). When some see the success of other people with less "knowledge" about fitness, they get all up in arms and say how ridiculous it is that they are successful to begin with. They don't recognize the hard work and effort placed into becoming a success. Perception dictates a lot of emotions, and unfortunately sometimes you just have to roll with it if you're in a position that cannot tell them otherwise.
