Small Google + success story.

I just spent a little bit of time posting my latest video into some Google + communities - 8 altogether. I've gotten about 100 views in just about 1.5 hours. When I posted, I also took some time commenting on other people's posts. I'm going to make note of which communities seem to like and comment the most and try to focus on joining their communities more so I'm not just a spammer.

Good idea, I honestly have very little clue how google+ works and don't touch it at all. I have been using reddit, twitter and that's it. Maybe it's time to also look at google plus. Someoen should write a review on how that community actually works.

I'm totally confused by it as well and I sometimes I go on it to experiment. Today I saw another video someone posted in about 12 communities and I thought...I'm going to try that too. I looked at where the other video was posted to give me some ideas on which communities to try. I'll wait at least another week and try it again with another video.

That's good to hear. I try every now and then, because I know it can work really well for a channel, but ultimately I struggle with it. I don't find it very intuitive. Maybe I'll give it another go...

I've tried using Google+ as well and it'***** or miss for me. The Telltale Games I played got some good attention, but other games did not as much.

Can you elaborate on how you find communities - the ones I have looked at just seem to have very little interactions and channels just post their latest video without much else. There does not seem to be much +1 or shares. Perhaps we are looking at the wrong ones.
How does one find the "happening" or "in" community for your genre/category at the moment?

I haven't figured out how to use Google+ at all, really. I had a flurry of friends move over there from Facebook, as well as some work things that required it, but otherwise, I'm totally lost there as well.

There are a ton of communities for dogs and cats so I have a lot from which to choose. The ones that caught my eye at first had a large amount of members (in the thousands versus so many communities that just have about 100 or so). Then I looked at the posts to see if they tend to have a lot of +1s and to make sure they get multiple postings everyday. For the video that I discussed in this thread, there were three communities that responded well to the video. They had memberships of approximately 187,000, 188,000 and 42,000. Today I tried another video on some other communities that were smaller (400-3,000) and I received a handful +1s and some comments, but it doesn't seem like many views. I'll add one more community to my list of places. One post was removed from a community by a moderator and I have no idea why because I truly don't think I broke any rules except they didn't have a category for videos so I selected pictures instead.

Basically, it is hit or miss. Of the hundreds of dog communities, I think I have found two that will be decent for dogs and two that are generally for animals.
