SitC Creator Day

Wreckless Eating

YouTube Space LA Alumni
Just noticed this little blurb on the bottom of the description of the newly named Summer in the City Creator Day (was previously called Industry Day):

Please be aware that this is a day for creators and industry professionals to network and learn from each other. There will be a code of behaviour in place and anyone who is seen to be asking for autographs, photographs or in any way acting in a non-professional manner will be asked to leave. No refunds will be made.

There's no way they can enforce that kind of rule. If they wanted to keep the fangirls out, they shouldn't have lowered the price by half to £30 from £60 and then thrown a £10 discount code on top of it (CONTENT1 if you are going and CONTENT3 if you are attending all three days-note: discount codes are from YouTube) to make it affordable enough for anyone to attend. Vidcon prices their industry day track at $450-550, which keeps the fangirls away. And they don't have to threaten to kick out people who ask for photos and autographs.

Do you think this revamped "creator day" will be successful or do you think the fangirls will take over the event?

Yeah, this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Vidcon has the right idea.

Fangirls will take this over without a doubt.

I have seen dozens of fangirls on my twitter timeline tweeting about how they are attending this day and even some boasting about not having to que up to meet certain people on the following days.

Also of it's going on what SITC presented last year in the form of panels an actual content aimed at creators, I would not bother wasting my money. I went to half the panels last year which each claimed to teach you a whole bunch of stuff in relation to the topic at hand and I literally learnt nothing.

One panel was by YouTube where they had this 'revolutionary game changing feature' that we could check out, all it turned out to be was the slow motion function on their editing software. Then for the rest of the panel they had one of the sony slo mo cameras set up and where filming and showing example footage from that :/ obviously that is going to look good in slo mo.

Honestly the organisers for SITC are pretty terrible and I'm pretty sure that Tom guy just gets all his YouTube friends together to tug each other off.

This is going to be a fangirl mob :D

I agree.. If you don't want them then you need to charge a hefty price.
With their current pricing, are they going for lots of people at a lower price or something? like instead of Vidcon who go for a not large amount of people at a much higher price point.

Oh don't worry, I will be there on the Saturday but that best thing about it this year is that I'm not alone, we literally have a group of about 5 ppl who are just as much of a pain in the a** as me.
:bounce: OMFG. I cannot wait to hear about what goes on over there. That's gonna be amazing.

I will be filming with my megaphone and just being generally annoying. There are a few people going who have in the past used racial slurs towards one of my friends who I am going with. So lets just say that they will probably take a disliking to me informing everyone about this on a megaphone whilst standing next to them. I will also be telling everyone that they are registered sex offenders and that any parents present should keep a close eye on their children.

It's extremely unlikely that anyone will try to hurt us and if someone does attempt it, it will be the people who we are calling out on doing some really messed up stuff, so I would have no problem putting them in their place.

With just random people and my megaphone I will be doing stuff like standing next to some of the mums hanging around and saying stuff like ' I am currently standing next to the hottest mums I have ever seen at a YouTube convention' then try to chat them up in front of everyone on the megaphone XD
