Shoutouts Good Or Bad

I don't see how they're bad. Sure, there will be some people who subscribe just because they were told to, but I think the majority would be people who legitimately like your content.

If the one who shouts out your channel gives a little description of who and why he shouted out, it can only help you out.

even if 90% will be dead subscribers, do you have to care? 10% will still find your channel quite interesting and thats a good thing, isnt it?

about that whole dead subscription thing: dead subscriptions are counted as well and people are tending to subscribe to channels with many subscribers. most of them wont even care how many dead subscribers it has, if the number is large enough they will trust your channel a little bit more.

its sad that channels with a brilliant quality but only 20 subscribers arent as popular as channels with huge subscriber-graveyards, but thats the youtube-psychology right now i guess...

Yeah because they already get their set amount of views small channels though getting shoutouts nowadays doesnt help if you want a video on this topic from a big channel talking about this I can show you

Yeah because if a large channels tells his fan base to come to yours you will get a good amount of people and views for awhile then the views and subs will go right back to normal

Yeh but that little push could help a lot. I don't know if you've watched SlyFoxHound and ImmortalHD (two of the people I watch religiously). Basically Immortal had his account hacked and videos deleted. Sly made a video for him and overnight he grew massively and gained a huge fanbase that liked his videos. So it can help a lot :)

Not saying its bad just think more people should just try to network more instead of thinking about shoutouts. How other channels can help them out without them putting in any work.

I agree with that, networking will help in the long run as your consistently working with someone. A shoutout is just that single time as a bit of a push forward :)

Yeah and would rather have a shoutout from someone you work with often correct because it would mean more and than would be more interested in putting more effort into it. Than just a random person asking they wouldnt make the video the best that they could

Personally, I don't think it is really groundbreaking as the shouter has to be someone that has a well established audience and following in order to leave an impact :P Now of course, even then, it is possible to end up with a lot of dead subscribers that don't view your videos but the ones that do, will help give a small boost to the channel :)
Yes if that person has dead subs like maybe ave 400 subs and only gets 20 views a day probably not going to help shouting you out
That is true.
