What´s your take on doing Shout Out videos?
I´m starting to see more of these now and i´m seeing channels taking advantage of it to get subs.
 
There are some channels that make like 'shout-out sundays' etc. etc. , but i think the best way to kind of get a promo is to collaborate with someone who has a bigger amount of subscribers.
 
I don't think it's a fantastic idea to do shout out videos for subs. If you're doing shout out videos just to give support to the community and help others then GREAT! If you're asking for something in return then those people are not there for your content and the love of your videos, they're only there to get their shout out.
 
I see the concept that most people who does these have the rule to sub to the channel (and most people have the rule to subscribe to the "winning" channels) which in way is a shame, because they only subscribe to be a winner and doesn´t watch the videos a lot!
 
I think if it's a genuine shout-out, like the channel actually watches/admires the channel they're talking about and thinks their subscribers will like it too then it can definitely work, but as soon as there are any weird catches or clauses, or even if the shout-outs are too frequent, it just starts to seem very cynical and not particularly effective.
 
I do monthly shoutouts, but most of the people only do it because it gives them exposure even if they upload every month or so. They think shoutouts are much easier than uploading good content on a regular basis.
 
I think Shout-Outs are great if handled properly. Like, if you're doing a shout out series, you're doing it wrong. The moment you tell people "you can subscribe and like this video to get a shoutout!" it loses a lot of value. Sure people will do it for the shoutout, but it's not like your subscribers will ever even care.

If you're a channel that does weekly content and you never generally shout someone out, you're going to have a better time getting people to that channel. A sincere shout-out is the best kind of shout-out. It can't be too frequent, and it has to be spontaneous. Take myself for an example. I almost never upload videos. Though when I do they get great reception. So if I were to shout someone out at the end of my videos spontaneously, it will most likely have a greater impact than if I had a video filled with shoutouts and such.

Just my personal opinion.
