Should Youtube Be Considered a Real Job?

So I am doing a persuasive writing essay! I came up with this topic to do for it, because my teacher said "You should relate to you" So I need 3 body paragraphs. So I know that I am going to talk a about networks and all of that fun jazz... Also about ad sense. But I need 3 so does anyone got any ideas?

Actually. One of the definitions of "job" is: "the work that a person does regularly in order to earn money". I assume you use this generic definition, as you put "real job" lol. So as long as you spend a noticeable amount of time recording, editing, and uploading your videos, and regardless of how little money you make, it would be called a "real job". :3

I consider it a job, but mostly a part time job. I could live off it if I had to, but it would be a pretty poor life. Since I'm in college though I do consider it my job since I don't have to pay rent or anything, so it's actually pretty darn good money.

Your channel is doing really well, actually. If you were out of school and released more content (say 2 videos a week, and made a vlog channel or something), then I'd assume you could live off it it with no issues. xD Man... what I'd give yo have even half your sub count. Dx

This all comes down to how you define a real job. Is a job something that pays the bills? Is a job something that gives personal satisfaction? Define "real job" in your paper first, without even thinking about youtube. Once you have your definitional framework, just apply the attributes of your youtube channel to it and the answer will come to you. To me, I would say yes, it can be.
I think of it like being an actor. Is is a real job? sometimes? how good you are and the name you built for yourself will allow you to get paid more or less, coupled with how much you work.
The only real difference between us and other positions is that we deal in views, not in hours or projects.
We are essentially under the same umbrella as ad salesmen and bloggers and people that run forums.

Why wouldn't it be a job? You'd b self employed. Working for yourself and making a living is still working.

A job is something where you report to somebody else who gives you directives on what to do. The amount of money you earn is not relevant.

A business is something where you determine your own schedule.

It fits the first definition.
It fits the second definition. Employment does not always mean in someone else's employ. You can be self-employed.
It does not fit the third definition, unless you rely on it as a sole means of income, or you feel a duty to your fans to keep your schedule.
