Should you stick to one kind of stuff on your channel or diversify?

Just wanted to ask what will you do?

1.) Stick to same kind of content Or try different stuff?
 
You can try all kinds of stuff with your videos, but try to stick with one genre. It's important to have many types of videos that not only cater to your current subscriber base, but also video that have the specific use of bringing in new viewers via traffic search/suggestion and large, shareable content.
 
Stick to one topic and sometimes change it up with a different kind of video, but still related to the main idea of your channel.
 
The common advice is to stay with one topic. However, I think you have to make sure that topic is resonating with your audience. You don't want to stick to one topic if nobody is watching it. If you have a number of topics, you can see what is getting the views and watch which videos cause people to subscribe, and then focus more on that, as well.
 
I am a variety channel but lately i have been focusing on doing certain types of videos a bit more, as they seem to actually get me somewhere, for example my product/app review videos have had me contacted by companies in the past (and one very recently) asking me to do a video reviewing their app or website, which is amazing. I don't always get a lot of views on them but that kind of contact coming from those videos makes me want to focus on doing a lot more of them, i also enjoy making them as well which is the important thing, also it was an app review video of mine which got me from 14 subs to 700 in a week, although it hasn't happened since, it has done great things for my channel. I also have started doing storytime videos recently, as 1. i love watching them on youtube anyway, 2. people love watching them so i get a nice amount of views and 3. i absolutely adore making them. Then sometimes I just do a random video that popped into my head and I really wanted to do for whatever reason, the only real difference in video themes i do though is my lets plays i post sometimes, everything else i like to think is at least a bit similar to things i post, and can mostly go in the same playlist as the one previously posted etc

I do however just want to say I understand that different types of videos bring different types of audiences, so the different videos i do will attract different people, and that is why my view count isn't great on a lot of my videos as some people subbed for different things, but i often see people posting saying that variety channels can't become successful, and will never earn loads of money and get loads of views, it's something that has often been on my mind since i saw someone say it on here once, then i started seeing people say it more and more and it does dent your confidence as a youtuber as it has mine if thats the kind of channel you have, so i want to say yes they can, anyone can be successful it just takes one video, or knowing the right person, people like that can make people with variety channels not feel good enough and they are, I had one video which helped me take off so who knows what could happen, just post what you want to post, as you're the most important person on your channel youtube doesn't work without the passion, with the passion the subs will come.

I'm sorry i just wanted to get that out there, and when i saw this forum i took the oppurtunity. i do not mean to sound negative but coming from someone who is a variety channel i just had to say something.
