Should I upload to private first, finish annotating and then make public?

Like everyone's said, if you have the option to schedule videos, do it! If not, just private it then make it public after filling out all details. It's disappointing when someone forgets to put the annotations on the screen for a channel, playlist, or video.

This is awesome. I never noticed a schedule, where exactly does it show up? Will this also help with your video being monetized when it goes public? I hate that period when your video isn't monetized but public.

Right before you upload a video, there's an option to make it public, private, unlisted, or scheduled. It's also off the right on the uploading page. It's only available to partners though.

Thanks! Love it. Can it get approved for monetization before it goes public? Instant monetization would be awesome, sometimes I get several hundred views while is pending.

I believe it can! It usually monetizes in less than 30 min. if there are no issues.

Or unless YouTube is being wonky with it's approval system. There were a few days where videos were taking forever to monetize, and one of my videos still says it's under review and it's been 2 weeks. But usually it's pretty quick and before it goes public.

OOps! I uploaded all of my videos the way OP mentioned, i.e. private then annotate then make public. Didn't realise you could schedule! I'll be doing this for now on!
