Should I upload to private first, finish annotating and then make public?

This question has been bugging me for a while. because my internet sucks I've had to upload my videos while I sleep, only thing is when I do that the video goes up without all my annotations first like clickable extra videos at the end and adding playlist links etc.

So should I upload the video to private, then add all the stuff I want like annoations or fixes that need to be done and THEN make the video public? I've heard people say this messes up your sub box or the video doesn't show up for people when it's made public or stuff like that.

Just wondering if this is what major youtubers do, cos they get thousands of views in minutes and they couldn't possibly add annotations AFTER it's uploaded like I've been doing can they? it would mean those first thousand or so don't see those annotations.

I've also had a problem of people being able to comment on my videos when they're still uploading and I have no idea how they even find the video without a direct link

Well what i actually do is I upload a video a day before i want it to go up. So I would upload on sunday and have it scheduled to be made public on monday and during this time i do all the annotations and things like that.

I never actually thought of that, I forgot there was a schedule option now on youtube. Thanks :D

Like others have mentioned, I typically schedule my videos, do my annotations (I keep it simple; I usually only do previous/next episode types), then do whatever work is left to be done (adding to playlists; linking other episodes to the new episode) after it's become public. The scheduling thing is nice except when I forget about those things lol.

So the scheduling thing, if I upload it and it finishes but the video won't go public until tomorrow, do I have to leave my computer on all the time until it does and the youtube window open? Or once it uploads and processes can I switch everything off anf youtube do the rest?

I figure it's the latter but just wanna make sure

YOu can turn everything off after its done processing your video, yeah man secluded uploader is a total lifesaver. :p

I may stock up on some videos and get ahead of the scheduling for now and then it will even itself out after I upload for today.

Seems like it WILL save me some headaches. I need a schedule badly for my videos haha

I've been trying to do that...it's a little easier to breath when you have several videos queued up, ready to go public and the work is already mostly done with them. I would definitely recommend trying to get at least a week ahead.

Yeah I would suggest making it private first or scheduling it for later.

I've actually had a couple of viewers watch my videos before I was even able to write a description let alone add the annotations!
