Should i upload late at night?

Hazzador

I Love YTtalk
I am going to midnight launch of fifa 16 tomorrow, and am going to upload a video at like 1:30. Most of my views come from the UK and USA, and not sure if i should upload as many of my subs may not watch it. However, its better to get a video out there sooner rather than later. Could I get some advice plz?

That's a good question, I've just now started to pay attention to upload times, so I can't really offer you any helpful advice. I think there is a feature to kind of send a "shout out" to your subscribers to let them know you've uploaded a video. Maybe you can upload it really early, but then give a shout out later in the day so everyone gets the double notification.

You have to take into consideration who might be watching your videos. If you have kids watching, sometimes even adults, early morning videos are hard for them to watch as they have work and school to get to. By the time they all get home, they may forget all about your video. Sometimes getting a video out earlier is better, but it also has to do with the popularity of the video and how busy your viewers are.

Unfortunately, you only have 136 subs and that usually means they are just your extended network of family, friends, co-workers, classmates, etc. If you had at least 1,000, I would have recommended you go to your analytics, see when your subs watch you, and release then. What I can say is you will not find a sweet release time for both the UK and US due to the huge time zone gap between them. If that wasn't bad enough, the US has four time zones in the continental US and even more when you include Alaska and Hawaii ... not to mention its territories. Having said all of that, I would recommend you release at 4 pm EST as that will be when kids on the east coast of the US will be arriving home from school Monday through Friday.

since its fifa 16 and its new i say upload them when there ready cause people are going to wanna watch it
and remember it may be night for you but somewhere in the world will be day so it really doesnt matter when uploading i reckon

all my subs are people who i don't know in real life, and most of my friends don't even know i have a channel. After i am in analytics what do i go on to see what time they watch my videos?

I've been looking for the feature, but I haven't been able to find it. Either YouTube got rid of it, or it's just hidden really well. I could have sworn I just received one from a channel I subbed to though, I'll let you know if I see anything.

136 is still too small of a sample size to base any judgment on so it isn't really worth diving into your analytics yet. However, I didn't pick up last time that one of the games you're specializing in is FIFA. Soccer (or football as you guys across the pond call it) isn't popular here in the USA. Yes, yes, I know US soccer fans will try and disagree with me, but it isn't. It is less popular than ice hockey and that has barely been able to hang on here in the US. So if you will be doing a lot of soccer "Let's Play" videos, I would recommend releasing your videos the hour that kids get out of prison ... I mean school. By that I mean, if kids are released from school at 3:30 pm UK time, upload your videos at 3 pm or even 3:15. These days a lot of school kids watch YouTube videos on their smartphones on the bus or in mom's mini-van on the way home from school. And if you're monetized, use the scheduler so episodes are always released then. You want to always be at the top of their subscription page and to get the kids in a habit of expecting content from you then.

As an aside, I would also recommend you consider specializing in only one game genre. Most gamers like to play only one, a couple, or a few genres. Not all. If you're all over the gaming map, you will turn off gamers who are not into all the genres you play in. If your subscribers get too many videos about genres they have no interest in, they will unsubscribe. Don't give them a reason to unsubscribe. And if your next question is: Can you be successful by specializing in just one genre? The answer is definitely yes. Pewdiepie specializes in just horror.

As for which game genre should you specialize in, it should ONLY be the genre that you most love playing and have been playing the longest time. Don't just do what it most popular. Gaming video viewers expect you to have a passion for the games you play. While you can fake it for a while, eventually the truth will be revealed. Not only that but nothing kills a YouTube channel faster than a YouTuber doing videos that they don't have a passion for. Additionally, that passion will enable you to keep putting out videos.

The thing about uploading just after school is quite a good tip, i didn't think of that before so thanks! I do try to make videos based around 4 games, and change which games these are based on what ones are out. I have the games i will be playing in my banner so people should know what to expect. I do understand that sticking to one game would get a specific audience thou, but i want a variety of games. thanks for the lenghty answer :D
