Should I start a Separate Channel for Music?

Hey, so in addition to vlogging, I also sing and songwrite, and as my home recording studio gets set up, I wish to start recording some song covers soon and some originals.

Now the question is: Should I start up a separate channel for music?

Pro: I don't have to start building an audience all over again and I don't have the resources/time to make a professional cover with a music video every week.

Con: Channel will be a bit less focused (Currently it's Vlogs although there's planned expansion for Skits and Pranks)

Also, how would having cover songs on my vlogging channel affect my chances of getting sponsorship? And if I don't monetize my cover songs, I won't get copyright strikes, right?
 
Yeah If You don't want to risk copright issues on Your current channel then it is probably a smart thing to do. Other than that it is better to have two separate channels, which are focused on one topic than one channel with the mix of both (IMO).
 
Yeah, copyright is my main concern :p Also, does anyone know if MCNs partner channels that do multiple things? (ie; skits, vlogs AND Pranks all on one channel) because I think that way I won't burn out from having to constantly make something once a week for all channels :p

Also, does anyone have any experience "starting over" with a branch channel?
