Should I reveal my voice to my subscribers?

Holy cow! You're the guy who did the Twitch Plays Pokemon animation! I saw that featured on Dorkly and I loved it. I hope episode 2 is coming soon. =)

Anyway, back on topic: I would agree with SirEpicMouth's idea: make an animation that is a tutorial about making animation. That would not only fit the theme of your channel, it would be a lot more interesting to watch than the average tutorial video. With that said, I don't think you should be worried about revealing your voice to your subscribers, as long as it fits the context of whatever video you do it in.

Thanks for the feedback, i think that's what I'm going to do :) make it entertaining and not just a boring old tutorial video. :)
and thanks so much for the compliments! episode 2 is underway :D so glad you liked the first one!

if you really don't want to reveal your voice yet, and still want your fans under the facade that you are male, hire someone to do the narrating. or a collab with someone with a nice voice. have like auditions for it or something...

then when you get a substantially more amount of subs, then do the Q&A and be like sup dawg, I'm not a DUDE.

haha that would be a total shock then XD I think I'm going to go with he idea of having it animated, maybe with one of my characters, wither voiced by me, or someone else. Thanks for the feedback by the way!

I can understand how women want to be incognito with the harassing that can occur. I think that we now have the tools to more effectively deal with the trolls. Deleting and blocking is easier than ever.

With my genre, I have had people tell me that they appreciate my content more because I appear on camera from time to time. They get the personal experience of knowing who is behind the camera. Yes, I get the 'you're an old man' or 'you have a big nose' but deleting those comments is effortless.

Well, I'd do it because I actually think you will get more attention.
Yes, you probably will lose some subs but I bet you will get more in return because they will be like "OMFG I thought Lightsen is a dude, now she is a chick, how cool is that?".
That's what I believe would happen.
I definitely would NOT hire someone to narrate it because number one, you would lie to your subs and number two it is YOUR content, YOU made it, YOU should be the one who narrates it.

Be proud of what you are doing and don't hide, it's really awesome and I don't think there are many girls on YT who make such nice animations, therefore you are really unique.

And now, since I subbed you, I am looking forward for a video with YOUR voice. :D

first off, thank you very much!!! :D for the kind words and the sub ^v^ much appreciated!
I think maybe I will animate a little cartoon of myself and narrate it myself. Now I just need to practice my speaking a bit, So i can sound more interesting like the vloggers out there, or yourself with your gaming :)

I had similar fears, mainly because I'm African-american and just about everyone's first instinct for an online animator is that they're Caucasian. I had horrible visions of subs dropping and racist trolls.

...but I only got one, "Oh my god you're black?!" comment that wasn't even mean spirited. Lol. I made several tutorial and trailer videos on camera afterwards and they did fairly fine, it also helped with my side revenue stream of Fiverr and verifying to folks that I was the one behind the work. By now I've stopped showing my face again as I feel like my work is getting too "intense" to put my real life appearance next to, but I still use my voice on plenty of content. I'd say go for it and see-it's always easy to just delete or unlist the videos if things don't work out. You seem to have a big loyal fanbase who might be excited to see who's behind the work. ;)

Thanks so much for the feedback, seems like you went through the same thing, I think i may use my voice but not show my face, but still going to save it for a sub special or something, then I could do Q and A's too maybe.

by the way your animations are great, +sub :)

I think behind the scences sounds like a great idea! You can do a little intro then record you doing some work on the animations but speed it up. I would love to do a behind the scences video
