Should I make captions?

Hiya, I've been making videos since August 2013 and now I've really got into it I was wondering if I should bother to add captions for deaf people, etc. I've already tried to previously but it takes FOREVER!

I'm kind of thinking to add captions only for the important videos, but then I kinda feel guilty if I don't so them for all my vids...

i honestly say its not worth it, and besides if you are talking to the camera deaf people can understand 90% of what you are saying because they learn to lip read really well :)
 
Hi Gaby, I do captions on 80% of my videos but that is only because they are aimed at people learning English and so it helps them follow the lesson. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't bother because, like you say, it takes ages to do and is very tedious. For every 5 minutes of video, it takes me about an hour and a half to get it all synched with the video exactly as I want it. So about 5 hours work for my videos and those 5 hours feel like 20 hours because it is so boring and tedious to do :(
 
It's very time consuming on top of making a video but at least you don't have to sync it because of the audio recognition Google uses. For my scripted videos I can just rip the script straight into a txtfile.

I know exactly what you mean and have been considering it myself. I've spoken with a number of hearing impaired individuals, and I feel guilty that I don't put captions on my videos. I've tried to do it for a couple videos, but it takes too long to make them for 30+ minutes commentaries. The fact that the people I've spoken with are so nice about me not putting captions makes it even worse, but it's simply not possible for me to do it when I'm uploading 5 times a week.

I suppose if I continue to grow quickly, at some point I might pay someone to do it, but I won't have the time to do it myself. One of the things I do is to make the description very detailed and explain what's going on in the game play. If you make a few videos and watch them without sound, then add a detailed description, I think that helps a bit.
