Separating the Kingdom, starting over

Symph

I'm a dude with a face and I know how to use it.
I finally think I understand why my view/sub ratio is so out of wack. my channel is too diverse. I do too many different things. I also feel I've displayed too much arrogance on Symphonious7. When things were going well I began to act like I was hot stuff and I'm just not a fan of it. It's not even arrogance sometimes, sometimes it's that the motivation to vlog was all wrapped up in me, with no consideration for the audience, and if this helps them.

I think I will get a better return if my channel is consistent. But sadly I do so many things, that this is going to require 4 channels. So I think Symphonious7 is going to be my music channel, SymphComedy will be all my funny sketches/vlogs, SymphVlogs will be serious vlogs about life and my thoughts on things, and SymphPlays will be for my recently started let's plays.

I know it sounds like a lot, but really it's not. These videos would be going on my channel anyway, and this way I will have a one video a week schedule for the comedy/music/gaming channels, giving them a week to rack up views, and the vlog channel will have no schedule, as that would overwhelm me to be tackling 4 videos a week. But the gaming doesn't take much time so it's possible, and the music and comedy is what I was already doing once a week for each. Just thought I'd let you guys know, I'm not asking if I should do this, I've decided it's what I must do :)

Send me your channel links when you make them n___n

But i just have something to say. I think your viewers should watch you for YOU. I think it's kinda messed up how a few viewers only watch your music, and others watch your vlogs, and others watch your skits, etc. I don't think you should do this (I know you said you weren't asking...but i just wanted to say it, lol), but I see your reasons as to why you should. So it's a good thing for you and if it's what you must do, then do it (: I just felt like your viewers shouldn't have only subscribed to see only one kind of video, you know what I mean?

Oh, ok. I figured the people who liked certain bits would watch just those videos and not the others, without it really having a negative effect, but I guess having other channels might be harmless, too. Are you gonna have messages on your channel somewhere telling your viewers about the changes? Cos it's easy for viewers, especially less dedicated viewers, to miss what's going on :nailbiting2:

That's how I felt, I refused to separate it out of principle, I was like "they should want the whole symph" But here we are, a year later, with over 700 subs, getting 100 views on some videos. And SO MANY larger channels told me "your viewers will want you to deliver the same thing" And then I think about big channels, what do they do? The same thing. I fought it, I didn't want to believe it, but now I just have to accept, it's just how it is. :(

I have 3 channels the main one for vlogs/rant type things. One for gaming and the other one is for lyric videos so my main channel doesn't get banned:p. I don't think it matters. As long as your happy and your subs:D.

I'm gonna make a video, post a few bulletins, and then put each one as the first recommended channels on my current channel. Hopefully it will get the word out. Hopefully 4 channels isn't too much, but I just can't deny that these things are TOTALLY different, I thought about putting the comedy and vlogs into one channel, but it's the same issue. my serious vlogs like the one in the sig are TOTALLY different from my weird random comedy sketches, if I truly want to deliver the same type of video on each channel, I need to separate those things too.

Not to be mean to your subbies, but I totally feel like they forced you to do this ): But it is true that "your viewers will want you to deliver the same thing" because that is what you're known for and stuff. I guess people just don't like new things? Or different things? I totally understand the separation of the games because that's TOO different from vlogs/skits/music. Now rethinking about your different channels, I do think it is good. Because nowadays it's so hard to get noticed, and the fact that you had 4 different type of videos doesn't make it any easier to get noticed (as you already figured out). Not saying you lack talent, because you don't, just saying people are bleh, so organization is good. And plus, you will definitely gather more subbies and you can totally send them out to your other channels xD And starting fresh means you filter out the dead subbies, if any. Sorry, I talk a lot sometimes....

Yeah, making sure everyone knows can take a bit of work and time, hehe. I guess the separating of the channels could have the effect of giving the viewers the choice to only see what they like. Like, in the subscription feed thing, if they see a new video from their beloved Symph, they could be more sure that it's gonna be one they'd wanna watch, without thinking "is it my favourite type, or is it another of those other types?" They don't even have to memorise which days go with which video types. And they're given the chance to not even know about the other videos, if they want. People love that kind of freedom :thumbsup2:

I can set my default description to link to every other channel on each channel :) I think most people who sub to symphonious7 subbed for music, if you look at the return in views, the songs get about 3 times more than any other type of video at LEAST. So here's my one question, I can only put two channels in my sig... which channel should I put as the second one.... I don't think the vlogging one should be the second, I think either comedy or gaming should, and the reason I say gaming is not because I think I'm gonna be great at it, but because this is forum is so full of gamers, they may be most likely to check out a fellow gaming channel. But then again, my comedy is probably gonna be funnier than my gaming ACK but then again, some of my subs told me the gaming video was more hysterical than my comedy! ACK![DOUBLEPOST=1371979536,1371979495][/DOUBLEPOST]

Awe, I thought you were gonna put vlogging for sure ): lol. #vloggers4lyfe But I think gaming would be nice! I'm sure it would be more popular too, maybe. Well on the forums anyway because like you said, there are many gamers on here. And I'm sure they'll want to watch Symph rage! :D
