Self Advertising In The Comment Section

You can setup a blacklist for words and accounts that want to comment. Or if you have a little channel you can setup to approve or decline comments. It is some work if you have a big channel :P

This is definitely a bad thing my books. But if you make nice, well thought out comments across several videos though that are in your genre that you genuinely watch then I think this is more than fine.

best way to advertise in comments is to just have a good icon. Make it an icon that is clear your a youtuber. I can usually tell who's an artist or animator, or gamer based on their icons. And sometimes I'm curious and check them out. Unless they are asking people to do just that, then I definitely won't lol

It would bother me a little bit less if it wasn't so incredibly obvious. I have a couple of commenters who literally post the same comment on every single video I post, and it's meaningless and annoying. After a time, though, it can be fun to see if you can get them to engage. Sometimes, I'll ask really complex questions after people say, "Great video! Check out my channel," I'll say, "What did you like about the video? I'm so glad you appreciated it, what part resonated with you?" It's kind of passive-aggressive, but sometimes it cuts through the anger.

I Think the people that write these comments think their channel isn't doing so well (like mine). And I can't relate to this at all, but it really does seem annoying. These people are profiting from other people's success. And you should just block these channels from your channel because they don't want to watch your content. They're just here to profit from you.

Definitely agree with this. On the more popular videos by the bigger channels people are always not-so-subtly advertising. I feel like when someone asks you to check out their channel/subscribe, anything they have said previously kind of goes out of the windows and seems disingenuous.

They sometimes just copy paste these messages without watching the video.

I once found a self advertising comment on a 5 second video of an intro saying: "This video was amazing! I laughed hard! Could you please check out my channel?"

Do they use a bot or what? :v

I haven't seen it a lot on youtube itself, but see it constantly on facebook in groups centered around youtube when people post a video and then other people reply with links to their channel...and personally I just find it rather rude most of all.
