Seems Like Youtube Ads Are Getting More Accurate

I Love YTtalk
I've been getting ads that I actually click lately because it's stuff I'm searching for. Before I would get stupid a** ads that had nothing to do with anything I'd ever like. Now, even if I watch a video about something like people microwaving guns, it brings up water softener ads instead of an ad that is more related to the video. Hopefully this leads to more clicks and more moolah

I agree, rather than getting any ads, if I'm on a gaming video, my ad is a game one, if I'm watching a guitar video, I get things like guitar pro etc, its good!

Yeah, I have noticed that too. I haven't been getting ads for chinese dating sites and weird workout websites xD

It's because Google take information about what you search and place relevant ads because your more likely to click on them. :P

Ads are (or can be) much more than just "related to whats in the video"

Some ads are targeted purely based on audience demographics (you're a younger male? here, watch this action movie ad we predict will do well in a population of people similar to you)

And as others in this thread said, they can be based off search history for a single user, not purely related to this particular video.

That's what I mean... Now I don't just get stuff related to the video, I get ads about stuff I would actually look at. Like lately I've been looking for a water treatment system, now I get water treatment system ads even when I'm looking at people jumping out of helicopters in wing suits or people microwaving XBox Ones. Normally they'd try to do a GoPro ad for the wingsuit, or an Xbox ad for the Xbox.
