Will the SD card that comes with the canon 700D be big enough for long video files or should I invest in a larger one?
 
I had no idea the Canon70d came with an sd card. But if you have enough money to buy that good of a camera you should make the investment of an extra sd card. Any good filmmaker always have back up, so if you have 2 sd cards if one doesn't work or something, you have another one. And the reason why it matters how you use it is because of the different formats, if you record in hd that will take up more space. If you record longer clips, it will take up more space. But overall, my advice is just to have two sd cards just in case, at least 16 gb in size. Sd cards aren't even that expensive, under $40, which is nothing compared to the cost of the 70d.

I do have one 16 gig SD card and that is about it. It is a class 10 SD card and its vital to youtube and what not especially if you are using a DSLR Camera. I want to get another one and they are infact quite inexpensive so I'd recommend for sure.
 
SD cards come in numerous varieties, but the biggest factor is what Tae mentioned. If you want to record 1080p 30FPS video and have it come out flawless, you are best served by class 10. The size is irrelevant to the quality, but relevant to the length of time you can record. If you are recording at 720p or less, then it matters far less.
 
I highly recommend SanDisk Extreme Pro cards. Make sure it is a Class 10 UHC-1, at least 32GB.

You told us nothing about the card that came with your camera, so we cannot tell you whether it is suitable for your application. Cameras do not typically come with cards. Sometimes they are special bundles set up by the store you purchased from and they can throw in any card they want.

Oh it hasn't come with the camera I just assumed it would come with it.

So I'm glad I asked you guys!

So atleast 32GB?

And yeah it will be always HD videos the best quality and I want to be able to record up to an hour long maximum videos

What should the read and write speed be?
