Script vs non-script

When/if you are doing a skit or mini movie, it is ESSENTIAL to have a script, but for vlogging videos, i USED to make a full-pledged script but recently stopped doing that to get a more genuine feel. When i was using a scripted script i actually sounded like i was reading the script but i really wasn't. If it is a very hard topic i will still write a script, but otherwise i just have an outline! the only way to go! hope this helps!

I don't script much but sometimes I do. I work better and am funnier/more entertaining with out one. But sometimes a script is needed.

I think kinda doing both helps out a lot. I normally will write out the general idea for a video, but I won't write it out detailed. I leave out the specific details and keep it to bullet points or a summary of what will happen for each scene. I don't often write out the exact words or anything that anyone will be saying because it is like you said, it has less emotion to it and honestly it is much harder to try to get a person to say one line just right than it is to get a person to just improvise there way through a scene.

I used to script everything. Then I scripted nothing. Then I scripted things, and would then go record them unscripted.

My conclusion is: ALWAYS AND NEVER SCRIPT!

Pretty much have to agree with this.

I don't script so much as I try to get my ideas out of head, and onto some form of paper. Once I have all my ideas laid out, I can look back over them and figure out what I think I want to use and what I want to throw out. From there, I just use it as a sort of guide rail to keep myself on track. I don't think I've ever stared at anything while recording and read a script.

I would write out my main talking points then refer to my list when recording. It sort of makes it a bit more natural but I do a bit of editing on it after to take out the errmmms and stuff :P

I write only my idea so that I don't forget. Example: Rebooking WWE's Nexus storyline.

That's all I'll write down. Everything else will be "live" on video for me. Everything is unscripted and uncut. Which is kinda how I like it. I could never imagine memorizing a script or anything like that. >_>

When I first got on youtube the idea of using a script never even entered my mind. When I first thought about it I thought I just came up with a genius idea. Little did I know It was an idea that everybody was already doing.

Since we are an episodic show, we definitely use a script. We do improv here and there which is always fun.

I think if you're doing sketches or episodics, you'll need a script. For vlogging, only an outline of your topic.

I make tutorials on games and one of my bad points is that I keep drifting off-topic when I don't script. Or I start mixing everything up, making it completely incomprehensible :P. So I prefer to have either a bulletpoint script or a written out script. I'm trying both at the moment, not sure which I prefer yet.
