Script or Improvisation??

Hello There
We were just wondering wether you think we should have a set out script for our videos or we just have a general idea and improvise from there.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Please and Thank You. :)

I think it depends on what you're trying to achieve, what you feel more comfortable doing and what you are good at. If you feel you are good at improvisation then go for it. However improvisation is a skill and it needs to be honed.

What i like to do in my videos is have a few scripted points that i'm going to talk about (maybe even a couple of scripted gags) and then riff on those topics. This isn't for everyone however and others prefer to stick to a script.

Basically you need to do whatever is comfortable for you and whatever you think works best.

I do tutorials. For me it came out to be most convenient to first come up with a rough script, record my footage, make a rough cut, create a detailed script, record the voice over and do the final cut.

For my videos I normaly dont write any scripts, I just get idea for video, record it and then just edit it...

Only video for which I use script was 50 random facts about me... Because it was much easyer to record it like that and dont repeat some facts...

If you want to see it you can check it out :=)

I'm still new on YouTube and its still all fresh but with time I will try to make it better :=)

P.S In 8h I will publish new video :D So check it out one more time :)

Thanks - Hvala

The way I like to do it is have a few bullet points down on paper stating things I want to talk about then go from there. I do tend to mess up and have to keep restarting occasionally, but I know that it would be obvious if I was reading from a script. Try many ways out and see what works best for you :)

The bullet points is really smart

In general if a video is a "review" type then some sort of script is indeed advised, if it is other type like gaming then probably not so necessary.

If you are doing gaming videos or vlogs, you should probably just write out a few points, and that should be enough. If you are doing what I do, which is top 5 videos and theories, you are going to get nowhere without a script. It might just be me here, but I find script writing really fun :)

Write down all the subjects you want to cover chronologicly. Write a first version of your script and summarise it in keywords. When filming the video keep your keywords beside you. This way you are prepared what to say but it stays spontaneous.
