Samson Go Mic and Behringer C-1U Comparison

MF Patrick

Don't worry about it .
Hey there , I'd need an advice .
I have to get a new mic since my AT2020 broke and at the moment I'm not in the right mood to spend a lot . I found those 2 microphones in my area . They are both around 50 euro but I don't know which one to take .
The Go Mic looks better . I mean , it looks really cool . The thing is , I don't know which one is better .
My PC is really loud . I have 2x GTX 470 in SLI and I need to keep my fans on 80% while playing to keep them cool . This means a lot of background noise .
I don't know . If you have any experience with these mics , let me know .
Thanks

I have no experience with these microphones, but the background sound wouldn't be too much of an issue if you could use Noise Removal in a program like Audacity. But of course I don't know how noisy it is for you.

One Mic I do have experience with is the Blue Snowball and that is good at picking up only what is directly in front of the mic. Which I think is around 50 Euros at the moment.

And 2 GTX470's is awesome. Im jealous.

Behringer is a decent name when it comes to mixing boards, though I've never used their mics before. The Samson Go is not a competitor to the AT2020 though. Honestly, I'd say buy a rockband mic on the cheap until you can stockpile enough dough to replace the Audio Technica or upgrade to something like the Shure SM58, or something else. The SM58 will pick up less background noise as it's designed to pull audio from directly in front of it (thus why it's the most popular live concert mic on the planet).

Edit: Jesus... I was hoping to beat the first Snowball recommendation. Terrible choice... especially after an AT2020.

Haters gonna hate ;)

The AT2020 looks and sounds pretty nice, so it would be a step down, Tarmack is sensible saying you should probably go cheap just to have a mic until you can pay for a good one.

I use the SM48, it's similar to the 58, little background noise.

EDIT: You may need a Mixing desk for a SM4/58

heh, I hate the snowball so much. :)
It's not as good as it's made out to be, sure it's good, but they're are better for cheaper.

You can send that PC to me to check out the fan and fix it for you. You might not get it back though.

i got the samson GO mic... NO backgorund noise.. super small and has a clamp on it so you can fit it anywhere. sound is.. well, check my latest video as i did a video with it. but while editing there is no background sound.

GO MIC IS SMALL, SOUNDS GOOD AND CHEAP AND VERY PORTABLE :D thats what i wanted to say and i still use it... and is metal so if it falls, it wont break :)

Thank you both . Well , it's not that I don't have the money to get another AT2020 or something better , it just makes me mad spending 150 euro another time . I want to wait few months . Maybe November for my birthday or December .
For now I wanted a good microphone but not expensive .
I have a Behringer DJX750 mixer so I'm familiar with Behringer .
The thing is , I don't know their mics .
When it comes to Noise Removal , well I have no problems with using it . Indeed I'm using it now with my Razer headset . But less editing I have to do on the track , better it is . Not because I'm lazy of course .
The thing about Blue Snowball is , it's not available in the store I wanted to get these mics .
It's not that I don't trust Online Shopping , it's just if I can get it without waiting for the shipping and stuff it's better .

When it comes to 2x470's , they are pretty cheap to get now .
The only problem is the architecture was bad when they came out so they are pretty hot .
