Something like the AT2020 is a superior upgrade but the price disparity between it's XLR and USB versions is mindboggling.

Yup, on Thomann the AT2020 XLR is around €89, the USB is €169..I might plan on getting the extra money for an AT2020.

I have this mic and it's okay for what it's marketed for. To me, it picks up too much static noise for my liking, but it should work pretty well for just standard use.
