Rode Microphone Quality Sucks! What Do?

do we know exactly what kind of mic charlieissocoollike uses? I'm probably going to go with the Rode VideoMic (not the Pro). I'd also like for it to pick up more background noise. Like lets say a stereo playing in the background of the room
 
I recently got the rode video mic pro. The sound is crisp it just isn't as loud as I would like it to be. I may need to just play around with it more though. Manual setting the camera volume to 4 clicks above all the way to the left helps with white noise.
 
This is why a lot of creators say that audio is very important. It is hard to fix. There are tricks that can be done with video. I will be following this topic because I'm going to be buying a new mic myself. Probably a Heil but I will see what you guys say about Rode as well.

Hmmm I have no experience with Heil mics, but I can assure that the Rode mics are top notch! Quality/price is really good.
