Reuse Query

Michael

I Love YTtalk
Does anyone know if you get punished in some form for using the same music pieces every now and then in your videos? Surely they cannot expect you to pay £50 for a song and not reuse it, their library is hardly that big so you can choose an original song each time? If that is how it is then all videos will end silent. Seems a bit odd from what I have read today.

Thanks guys.

Youtube Audio Library do offers safe music and is growing in time. But for the current rising ads for music sales platforms and sites seem that a hype is born. I think that pictures still or moving is what really takes down a channel. But i am not an expert, this is what i understand :)

Cheers, good to hear its unlikely an issue with music reusage. IMO music should be allowed to be reused, what the hell else would they expect of creators to do.

Okay I've read up and looked at all the above links.. This is not about people using background tracks. Its about people taking the p*ss who upload junk compiled from media packs/ or others people's hard work broken into chunks to present as fair use, people using computer generated voices and so on and so on.
Your safe to use the same music in background. In fact if you used different tracks for every video people would not be able to identify with your brand. GOT don't invent a new trailer song to each episode- so a Youtuber can't be expected to do that for their videos either.

That is exactly how it should be and I really hope this is correct. Otherwise all sense would be straight out the window :D Thanks for your response!

@UhoohExtra

Not necessarily. Take a look at the Adsense Quality Guidelines, found here. Most specifically, this section...

"Reused content. This is content that doesn't provide significant original commentary or educational value. It may also mean that we've identified that large portions of your channel either completely match other content, or are noticeably similar. Examples include:
    • Third-party videos stitched together with minimal-to-no changes
    • Third-party content compiled without a narrative
    • Content uploaded somewhere else first
    • Content uploaded many times by multiple users
  • Automatically-generated content. This is content generated through automated processes, stitching or combining content from different sources. Examples include:
    • Synthetic voice reading third-party content
    • Content on a channel with minimal changes from video to video
    • Third-party image slideshows with no additional commentary
    • Repetitive or mindless content with no additional commentary or narrative
Note: You may be able to monetise third-party content if you have commercial use rights for that content, and you're contributing to the value of that content in some way. This can include, but is not limited to, high-quality editing, adding commentary or narrative."

This is why some channel genres which have similar content are being denied monetization upon application, and existing partner channels belonging to those genres are being demonetized.

The part quoted above is the one which really has me worried.

YouTube seems to be using this to demonetize genres like ambient meditation music, which is one of the genres I myself post to. I compose my own music using software based synthesizers, but my visuals are drawn from stock clips. Sometimes I use the clips unaltered as a loop; sometimes I composite them into a new loop wit two or more layered in transparency.
