Depends on what the comment says and which video it's for. I check all the comments except the ones under my most popular video which is now at 20,000+ views. It's just impossible to reply to all of those people and they mostly say the same things over and over again, I've stopped checking out the comments that video gets. But every other video, if I do have something to say then I will say it.

I make an effort to respond to everything - I think it's very important to let your subscribers know that you *do* care about them and are willing to take the time to respond to them personally. When I had a much bigger channel (roughly 30,000 subscribers), I was getting hundreds of comments a day and still made an effort to respond to people.
Honestly, I wish I had done more then and being able to interact with my viewers is something I really miss. If I can grow my channel again by some miracle, I've made it my personal goal to always try to engage with my subscribers as much as possible.
