Rejected (duplicate upload) message

Josh Keatley

I've Got It
So when I mess with my capture/video settings I want to load the video in private to make sure everything is good with the video. Then if everything is good I upload the video again to public. I have done this plenty of times but today I got this message from youtube.

Rejected (duplicate upload) message
This message means that the video you've uploaded already exists within our system.

If you'd like to upload the same video again, note that simply changing the file name won't prevent the rejection message from showing.

Instead, please try editing the video again. For example, changing the video length (e.g. by adding extra frames by using video editing software) or compression should allow the video to upload.

COME ON YOUTUBE! YOUR KIILLIN ME!

I could just put the video as public but then a message to my subscribers isn't going to show up. It is not going to get released properly in my subscribers feed.

I could just delete the video but then I am going to have to redo all the tags. Pain in the *ss!

Youtube just amazes me with all their stupid updates that screw youtubers instead of helping them out!

What do you guys think?

If you uploaded the video as Private and change it to Public after uploading it fully it should show up in their feeds, if you uploaded it Public and changed it to Private and change it back, afaik it won't show up in their feeds.

hmm... I was all ways wondering if it showed up in their feed if you uploaded it as private then switched it to public. I all ways uploaded it to youtube the regular way just in case. If that is true I might just start doing more scheduled uploads. Is there any disadvantage to scheduled uploads that you know of?

Nope, in fact I use it all the time, it allow my subs to know when there's a video come out at an exact time. :) I schedule all my videos for 8PM GMT. :)

This has never been allowed, their duplicate policy has existed for years. I would assume you deleted the private video before the new public reupload is finished processing therefore not coming into contact with the duplicate error.

No, I think it was all the times I did it before I usually realized that there was a mistake, and changed something in the video (making it a technically different video) before I made my final upload public. It wasn't a problem I just copied all the information to another private video then deleted the 2 videos and uploaded a new one and transfer all the info over real fast.

Yeah this post is kinda pointless, but I did learn something out of it. Thanks!
